Jbs Heritage Stetson Wide Brim Hat With Feather & Pin- The 。This showstopper light tan straw wide brim hat consists of a short crown which is flat at the top and slants forward, which was the fashion statement of the time. The surrounding very wide brim is turned in at the edge, making the brim heavier, so it has a gentle slope downwards. There is a coordinating color grosgrain band around the crown which ends in a bow at one side. The bow serves to attach a magnificent large brown ostrich feather that projects forward, creating a stunning look. At the back of the crown there is a beautiful bakelite pin attached. To help keep the hat in place, there is an elastic band attached to the inside. This is an awesome piece of history! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
